It’s a small box of a camera that’s shock-, dust-, freeze- and splashproof with almost the entire top taken up with an f2. That is a very, very wide lens capable of capturing a circular degree view in photos or video. Why would you want to shoot degree videos? That’s a fair question and if you’ve never used one, it would be easy to see it as a gimmick. However, it does bring a more immersive feel to point-of-view POV video, delivering the action from all sides. If you’re looking to add something different to your POV movies, it gives you another view to work with. Still, if you’re not sold on how it can enhance your videos just yet, JK Imaging , the company that licenses the Kodak brand for its Pixpro cameras, has made it so the SP can also pump out regular Mount the camera with the lens pointing up or down and you get degree photos or video that, with help from desktop and mobile apps, can be played and played with in multiple ways. Aim the lens directly at your subject and you can record ultrawide-angle movie clips like those you’d get from just about any other action cam.

Developing My first bit of advice is to figure out whether or not you want to buy and use these cameras, or simply display them on a shelf. The number of people shooting film has significantly decreased in the last 15 or so years, but there is still enough of a loyal following that it is still possible to get film cheaply. If you have no interest in actually using old cameras, then by all means go hog wild and just buy anything you think looks cool.
However, if you want to shoot film, you need to be a little more discriminate. Types of Film and What to Avoid Not including instant film formats like Polaroid and a couple very obscure formats that are hard to find and extremely expensive, there are two primary formats of film that are still readily available.

The front face and the end of the inner section both carry a green coloured roundel, printed with the word “Green”. It is not yet known whether any other colours were produced – I have seen several examples in this finish but no other colour to date. The camera is in good condition, as is the box. The autographic stylus is present often missing. Notes When looking for a good example, check the condition of the black enamelled metal edge work.

The company has teamed up with Bullitt , a Reading-based manufacturer that specialises in building unconventional handsets, to release the Ektra, a premium phone to go on sale this year. The two hope to carve out a niche in the brutally competitive smartphone market by focusing on camera obsessives, rather than trying to challenge Apple, Samsung and Google directly. It is aimed at those who may already own a DSLR but want the convenience of having a quality camera with them at all times.
It has a powerful processor that allows it to instantly process the high-definition shots. A previous device, released to a low-key launch last year, was aimed at novices. Bullitt, founded in , does not build self-branded handsets that compete with bigger manufacturers but designs electronics for niche areas of the market by licensing well-known brands.

Posted on by randcollins Few individuals have had more impact on photography, not to mention on society itself, than George Eastman. By July , he had patented a machine for coating glass photographic plates. Strong, he founded the Eastman Dry Plate Company in In , the company introduced celluloid roll film, and in , changed its name to the final form, the Eastman Kodak Company. The first cameras were simple wooden boxes, with the shutter cocked by a string dangling out of the body.
Eastman was greatly aided in his camera development by Frank Brownell, a cabinet maker who turned to the manufacture of cameras in the early s. Brownell designed most of the early Kodak cameras, and was responsible for the design of the famous Brownie cameras, which for the first time brought snapshot photography within reach of the masses.

Historically, Super 8 film was a reversal stock for home projection used primarily for the creation of home movies.
It became an extremely popular consumer product in the late s through the s, but was largely replaced in the s by the use of video tape. During the mid-to-late s Super 8 began to re-emerge as an alternative method for movie production, beginning with its use in MTV music videos in In the company’s Super8 Sound, now called Pro8mm, pioneered the use of the color negative in Super 8 by custom perforating and loading a variety of 35mm film stocks into the Super 8 film cartridge.
Today Super 8 color negative film is the main color stock used. A Super 8 film cartridge Eastman Ektachrome beside a compact audio cassette for scale The Super 8 plastic cartridge is probably the fastest loading film system ever developed, as it can be loaded into the Super 8 camera in less than two seconds without the need to directly thread or touch the film. In addition, coded notches cut into the Super 8 film cartridge exterior allow the camera to recognize the film speed automatically.
Not all cameras can read all the notches correctly, however, and there is some debate about which notches actually deliver the best results. Color stocks were originally available only in tungsten K , and almost all Super 8 cameras come with a switchable daylight filter built in, allowing for both indoor and outdoor shooting.

Since most people use Windows computers, they will likely just dump the pictures into the My Pictures folder that Windows provides. But this folder was never meant for true photo organizing. It brings most of the best features of iPhoto to Windows users, and for Mac users, it offers tight integration with a Web-based photo site. It works with any brand of camera and printer to easily organize, email, print and touch up your pictures. EasyShare comes with all Kodak cameras and printers.
There were a number of 35mm still cameras using perforated movie film prior to the Leica. The first patent for one was issued to Leo, Audobard and Baradat in England in
When the wireless capability works, it works well. I was able to email pictures, and upload them to the Kodak Web site, directly from the camera. Also, the camera has a few other downsides, including lousy battery life, especially when using the wireless features. Some other digital cameras have built-in wireless capabilities via Bluetooth.
This new wireless Kodak model is part of an integrated strategy the company is pursuing to tie together its cameras and printers and the EasyShare Gallery Web site, formerly known as Ofoto. Once uploaded, the pictures can be stored and shared with others. You can also order prints of them or gift items emblazoned with them.

You most likely have a disorder then bchalifour I doubt your Quattro outperforms an M Having used both I can assure you it does. Both are interesting cameras, for very different reasons. September Kodachrome II – Film for color slides Kodachrome was the first color film that used a subtractive color method to be successfully mass-marketed. Previous materials, such as Autochrome and Dufaycolor , had used the additive screenplate methods. Until its discontinuation, Kodachrome was the oldest surviving brand of color film.
Kodachrome is appreciated in the archival and professional market for its dark-storage longevity. Copies of the film for sale to the public were also produced using Kodachrome. Using the subtractive method, these disadvantages could be avoided. It required two glass plate negatives , one made using a panchromatic emulsion and a red filter , the other made using an emulsion insensitive to red light. The two plates could be exposed as a “bipack” sandwiched emulsion to emulsion, with a very thin red filter layer between , which eliminated the need for multiple exposures or a special color camera.
After development, the silver images were bleached out with chemistry that hardened the bleached portions of the gelatin. Using dyes which were absorbed only by the unhardened gelatin, the negative that recorded the blue and green light was dyed red-orange and the red-exposed negative was dyed blue-green.
Nasim Mansurov Comments For the past few years, Sony has been very active in the photography world, releasing one mirrorless camera after another. Back when I first handled a Sony NEX-series camera, I had no idea that the company would step up into the full-frame market with serious competition to challenge both Canon and Nikon.
Without a doubt, Sony caused quite a bit of stir with its full-frame mirrorless cameras and the recent release of the Sony A7 III shows that the company is continuing to push hard to bring out serious tools at very appealing price points. Having handled pretty much every Sony mirrorless camera to date, I have been keeping a list of issues I find to be problematic with the Sony mirrorless system. Some of the issues have been addressed overtime by Sony, but others have been there from the get-go.
Important Note. Please keep in mind that this is an opinion piece, based on my personal experience with the Sony mirrorless system. Every manufacturer has issues, and I could probably compile a similar list of problems for Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Pentax, Panasonic, Olympus and Leica.
